Overlooking the Armagh Bridge in Central Christchurch, Bridgeside Chambers was established in April 2006 with the objective of providing sound, practical and expert legal advice and representation in relation to a broad range of litigation.
The members of Bridgeside Chambers act as independent barristers sole and, whilst work may be referred to members of chambers in many ways, there will (other than in criminal legal aid cases) always be instructions from a solicitor or corporate counsel. Specific enquiries may be directed to the individual barristers.
Chambers members appear in the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the High Courts and District Courts and Tribunals throughout New Zealand. Following the Christchurch earthquakes, Bridgeside Chambers relocated back into the Christchurch CBD overlooking the Hereford Street Bridge at Levels 5 and 6, Brother House, 77 Hereford Street.
On 22 October 2021 one of the founding members of Bridgeside Chambers, Jonathan Eaton KC, was formally sworn in as a Judge of the High Court.
On 17 October 2023 Lisa Preston KC was formally sworn in as a Judge of the High Court
